European standardisation organisations
The European standardisation organisations are CEN, CENELEC and ETSI.
CEN and CENELEC organise the preparation of European standards. They do not publish standards, instead leaving this task to their national members, who publish CEN and Cenelec standards as part of their national collection.
European Committee for Standardisation CEN http://www.cen.eu
is a regional standardisation organization, which organises European standardisation in all domains, except electrotechnology and telecommunications. The General Secretariat is located in Brussels. Members of the CEN are:

European Telecommunications Standards Institute ETSI
ETSI is a worldwide organisation founded in 1988, the General Secretariat of which is located in Sophia Antipolis, France.
The number of members from one country is not limited, but full membership is only available for members of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT). ETSI currently has 779 members from more than 60 countries from Europe and elsewhere.
ETSI standards are not published on paper; they are available for free on the internet.
ETSI’s national member since 1998 is the Estonian Technical Inspectorate.
