A Technical Committee of the Centre for Standardisation (EVS/TC) is a body formed of persons interested in standardisation on a voluntary and parity basis, the purpose of the activity of which is the promotion of standardisation in its domain. The primary activities of an EVS/TC is the preparation of Estonian standards and standard-like documents, periodic review and participation in international and European standardisation.
Members of an EVS/TC are legal entities (companies registered in Estonia, government, state and research institutions, field of activity associations, professional associations, etc), who authorise their representative to represent their interests in the committee’s work. As a rule, the membership of an EVS/TC is such that all parties interested in standardisation are represented: manufacturers, consumers, government and research institutions.
A Project Committee of the Centre for Standardisation (EVS/PC) is a temporarily founded body of representatives of legal entities to prepare a limited number of standards in a narrow domain. As opposed to an EVS/TC, the interest of a member of an EVS/PC in standardisation is generally limited to the preparation of standards.
The members of both EVS/TC and EVS/PC are legal entities, who authorise their representative for work in standardisation.
The activity of an EVS/TC is based on the committee’s articles of association and meeting decisions and the procedural rules and guideline materials (EVS Guide 6) established by the Centre for Standardisation, international and European standardisation organisations. The purpose and activity plan of an EVS/PC is stated in the project description. The activity of an EVS/PC ends automatically at the time stated in the project description or upon the termination of a standardisation project. The work of the committees mainly takes place in the form of e-mails and meetings.
