World Standards Day 2009 conference presentations

On 14th October 2009, European Commission Directorate-General Enterprise and Industry will held its annual conference to mark World Standards Day. This event is instigated by the international standardisation organisations, ISO, IEC and ITU.

This year, the event was devoted to the consideration of the issues paper of EXPRESS. EXPRESS is the Expert Panel for the Review of the European Standardisation System.

The conference featured 3 panel debates on key themes of EXPRESS:

• European standardisation in the changing global context

• the needs of competitiveness and public and societal demands

• moving towards 2020: changes in European standardisation structures and capabilities
