Võrreldes eelmise väljaandega on selles standardis termin „siseriiklik kontonumber“ asendatud terminiga „põhikontonumber“, mis on olemuselt lähedasem algterminile "Basic Bank Account Number". Lisaks on avardatud kontonumbreid väljastama õigustatud subjektide ringi, kuna kontosid võivad lisaks krediidiasutustele avada ka muud makseteenuse pakkujad.

This standard is applicable for all payment service providers and their branches, who’s place of business is Estonia. The Estonian standard describes the structure of the Estonian account number, the bank codes used,  algorithm of calculating the check digits as well as rules for presentation and rules for usage.
