World Standards Day 2025
Every year on 14 October, the standardisation community comes together to celebrate World Standards Day.
A moment to recognise the essential role of standards in building trust, enabling innovation, and supporting sustainable development.
This year’s theme “Shared vision for a better world – Spotlight on SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals” highlights how standards create a common language for collaboration. They ensure that systems, products and services work together seamlessly, across borders, sectors, and organisations.
International standards are much more than technical documents. They provide shared frameworks that make interoperability possible, enhance transparency and accelerate progress toward the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). From climate action and clean energy to digital transformation and health technologies, standards enable global efforts to work in harmony.
National standardisation organisations (like EVS) ensure the required standardisation infrastructure on the national level. We prepare and distribute national standards, which can be based on European and international standards.
We are also members of European and international standardisation organisations and co-operate with them, mediating national positions at the European or international level.
Happy World Standards Day 2025!
