WTO Enquiry Point

The WTO Enquiry Point Estonia acts in accordance with the requirements of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) under the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT Agreement) and the Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS Agreement).

The duty to provide information is provided in the following legal instruments:
  1. - Agreements of the World Trade Organisation (WTO):
    • - Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade
    • - Agreement on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures
  2. - Directive (EU) 2015/1535 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 September 2015 laying down a procedure for the provision of information in the field of technical regulations and of rules on Information Society services
  3. - Product Conformity Act
  4. - Regulation No. 140 On the Procedure for the Notification of Draft Legislation, Technical Regulations or Rules on Information Society Services and the Appointing of the Authority which Provides the Information

Provision of information is coordinated by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.

In accordance with the requirements set out in legislation, the functions of the WTO Enquiry Point Estonia at the Centre for Standardisation and Accreditation are to:
  • - store, transmit and publish notifications received from WTO member countries or notified by Estonia
  • - provide information about the Estonian standards programme (Code of Good Practice)
  • - provide information about Estonian standards
  • - reply to enquiries received from other countries
