Optical amplifiers - Part 5-2: Qualification specifications - Reliability qualification for optical fibre amplifiers
Käsitlusala: IEC 61291-5-2:2017+AMD1:2026 CSV applies to optical amplifiers (OAs) and optically amplified, elementary sub-systems for terrestrial applications, using active fibres (optical fibre amplifiers (OFAs)) containing rare-earth dopants, which are commercially available. The black box approach is used in this document. The black box approach is adopted in order to give product specifications which are independent of OA implementation details. For reliability qualification purposes, some information about the internal components is needed; these internal parts are themselves treated as black boxes. This document gives requirements for the evaluation of OA reliability by combining the reliability of such internal black boxes. The object of this document is to specify the minimum list of reliability qualification tests, requirements on failure criteria during testing and on reliability predictions, and give the relevant normative references to establish a standard method for the assessment of the reliability of OFA devices and sub-systems in order to minimize risks and to promote product development and reliability qualification. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2002. It constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
a) removal of the contents on the relating quality management system from scope, terms and definitions, and the reliability requirements;
b) moving fit-rate calculation to Annex B (informative);
c) change of requirements for shock test;
d) amendment of abbreviations related to changes a) and b).
The contents of the corrigendum of May 2019 have been included in this copy.

Fibre optic sensors - Generic specification
Käsitlusala: IEC 61757:2026 defines, classifies, and provides a framework of generic tests or measurement methods for characterizing and specifying fibre optic sensors, including their specific components and subassemblies. The requirements of this document apply to all related fibre optic sensor standards that are part of the IEC 61757 series. Other parts of the IEC 61757 series contain requirements that are specific to sensors that measure particular quantities, and to a particular style or variant of such a fibre optic sensor. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2018. This edition constitutes a technical revision.
This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
a) expansion of the list of metrological parameters;
b) updates of the terms and definitions;
c) updates of the normative references and bibliography;
d) updates of the technical descriptions in Annex A.

IEC 61757:2018
Fibre optic sensors - Generic specification
Käsitlusala: IEC 61757:2018 is a generic specification covering optical fibres, components and sub-assemblies as they pertain specifically to fibre optic sensing applications. It has been designed to be used as a common working and discussion tool by the vendors of components and subassemblies intended to be integrated in fibre optic sensors, as well as by designers, manufacturers and users of fibre optic sensors independent of any application or installation. The objective of this document is to define, classify and provide the framework for specifying fibre optic sensors, and their specific components and subassemblies. The requirements of this document apply to all related fibre optic sensor standards which belong to IEC 61757 (all parts). Standards of IEC 61757 (all parts) contain requirements specific to sensors for particular quantities subject to measurement, and for a particular style or variant of such a fibre optic sensor.

Optical fibre cables - Part 1-118: Generic specification - Basic optical cable test procedures - Mechanical tests methods - Bending under tension, Method E18
Käsitlusala: This part of IEC 60794-1 describes test procedures to be used in establishing uniform requirements for optical fibre cables for the mechanical property – bending under tension. The purpose of this test is to determine the ability of an optical fibre cable to withstand bending around rollers or bows during installation, when a specified load is applied.
This document applies to optical fibre cables for use with telecommunication equipment and devices employing similar techniques, and to cables having a combination of both optical fibres and electrical conductors.
See IEC 60794-1-2 for a reference guide to test methods of all types and for general requirements. Throughout the document, the wording "optical cable" can also include optical fibre units, microduct fibre units, etc.
