Specific requirements for offshore structures - Part 7: Stationkeeping systems for floating offshore structures and mobile offshore units (ISO 19901-7:2026)
Käsitlusala: This document specifies methodologies for:
a) the design, analysis and evaluation of stationkeeping systems for floating offshore structures;
b) the assessment of stationkeeping systems for site-specific applications of mobile offshore units and construction units.
Originally developed for floating structures used in the oil and gas industry, this document is now also used in the renewable energy sector. The extent of application of this document to floating structures used in other industries is at the discretion of the relevant standard entity and its users. For example, IEC 61400-3-2 for floating wind applies this document to determine stationkeeping system responses while incorporating its own load conditions, safety factors, and environmental return periods.
This document is applicable to the following types of stationkeeping systems, which are either covered directly in this document or through reference to other guidelines:
— spread mooring systems;
— single point mooring systems;
— dynamic positioning systems;
— thruster-assisted mooring systems.
This document is not applicable to:
— stationkeeping systems which do not have redundancy against failure of any single component, e.g., single anchor leg moorings (SALMs);
— stationkeeping systems which use any means other than mooring lines or thrusters such as tower soft yoke systems, or tension leg platforms (TLPs) that use tendons.
The requirements for this document address spread mooring systems and single point mooring systems with mooring lines composed of steel chain, steel wire or synthetic fibre rope.
This document is applicable to all aspects of the life cycle of mooring systems. It includes requirements relating to the selection of mooring components, mooring system configuration and performance, components design, installation, post-installation survey, and as-installed assessments as needed for mooring integrity management.
For mooring systems deployed in ice-prone environments, additional requirements in ISO 19906 apply.

Petroleum and related products - Determination of sulfur content of automotive fuels - Ultraviolet fluorescence method (ISO 20846:2026)
Käsitlusala: This document specifies an ultraviolet (UV) fluorescence test method for the determination of the sulfur content of the following products:
—  having sulfur contents in the range 3 mg/kg to 500 mg/kg:
- motor gasolines containing up to a mass fraction of 3,7 % (3,7 % (m/m)) of oxygen [including those blended with a volume fraction of ethanol up to about 10 % (10 % (V/V))];
- diesel fuels, including those containing up to a volume fraction of about 50 % of fatty acid methyl ester (FAME);
— having sulfur contents in the range of 3 mg/kg to 45 mg/kg:
- synthetic fuels, such as hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and gas to liquid (GTL);
— having sulfur contents in the range of 3 mg/kg to 30 mg/kg:
- neat FAME (B100) and diesel fuels containing volume fraction of more than 50 % of FAME.
Other products (for example process feeds and effluents) can be analysed and other sulfur contents can be determined according to this test method, however, no precision data for products other than automotive fuels and for results outside the specified range have been established for this document. Halogens interfere with this detection technique at concentrations above approximately 3 500 mg/kg.

Specific requirements for offshore structures — Part 1: Metocean design and operating considerations
Käsitlusala: This document provides two broad types of requirements for the determination and use of meteorological and oceanographic (metocean) conditions for the design, construction and operation of offshore structures:

those related to the determination of environmental conditions in general, together with the metocean parameters that are required to adequately describe them;
those related to the characterization and use of metocean parameters for the design, the construction activities or the operation of offshore structures.

This document covers the following environmental conditions and metocean parameters:

extreme and abnormal values of metocean parameters that recur with given return periods that are considerably longer than the design service life of the structure;
long-term distributions of metocean parameters in the form of cumulative, conditional, marginal or joint statistics of metocean parameters;
normal environmental conditions that are expected to occur frequently during the design service life of the structure.

Metocean parameters specified in this document are applicable to:

the determination of actions for the design of new structures;
the determination of actions for the assessment of existing structures;
the site-specific assessment of mobile offshore units;
the determination of limiting environmental conditions, weather windows, actions and action effects for pre-service and post-service situations (i.e. fabrication, transportation and installation or decommissioning and removal of a structure);
the operation of the platform, where appropriate.

It is beyond the scope of this document to provide detailed instructions that can be followed to produce reliable estimates of extreme or abnormal conditions in all areas and in all cases.

Petroleum and natural gas industries - Specific requirements for offshore structures - Part 7: Stationkeeping systems for floating offshore structures and mobile offshore units (ISO 19901-7:2013)
Käsitlusala: This part of ISO 19901 specifies methodologies for a) the design, analysis and evaluation of stationkeeping systems for floating structures used by the oil and gas industries to support 1) production, 2) storage, 3) drilling, well intervention and production, 4) production and storage, 5) drilling, well intervention, production and storage, and b) the assessment of stationkeeping systems for site-specific applications of mobile offshore units (e.g. mobile offshore drilling units, construction units, and pipelay units). Most stationkeeping systems used with the class of floating structures covered by a) are termed “permanent mooring systems”, for which this part of ISO 19901 is applicable to all aspects of the life cycle and includes requirements relating to the manufacture of mooring components, as well as considerations for in-service inspections. Most stationkeeping systems used with mobile offshore units, the class covered by b), are termed “mobile mooring systems”. Throughout this part of ISO 19901, the term “floating structure”, sometimes shortened to “structure”, is used as a generic term to indicate any member of the two classes, a) and b). This part of ISO 19901 is applicable to the following types of stationkeeping systems, which are either covered directly in this part of ISO 19901 or through reference to other guidelines: - spread moorings (catenary, taut-line and semi-taut-line moorings); single point moorings, anchored by spread mooring arrangements; dynamic positioning systems; thruster-assisted moorings. Descriptions of the characteristics and of typical components of these systems are given in Annex A. The requirements of this part of ISO 19901 mainly address spread mooring systems and single point mooring systems with mooring lines composed of steel chain and wire rope. This part of ISO 19901 also provides guidance on the application of the methodology to synthetic fibre rope mooring systems, and includes additional requirements related to the unique properties of synthetic fibre ropes. This part of ISO 19901 is applicable to single anchor leg moorings (SALMs) and other single point mooring systems (e.g. tower soft yoke systems) only to the extent to which the requirements are relevant. This part of ISO 19901 is not applicable to the vertical moorings of tension leg platforms (TLPs). The methodology described in this part of ISO 19901 identifies a set of coherent analysis tools that, combined with an understanding of the site-specific metocean conditions, the characteristics of the floating structure under consideration, and other factors, can be used to determine the adequacy of the stationkeeping system to meet the functional requirements of this part of ISO 19901. NOTE For moorings deployed in ice-prone environments, additional requirements are given in ISO 19906.

Other products can be analysed and other sulfur contents can be determined according to this test method, however, no precision data for products other than automotive fuels and for results outside the specified range have been established for this document. Halogens interfere with this detection technique at concentrations above approximately 3 500 mg/kg.
NOTE 1 Some process catalysts used in petroleum and chemical refining can be poisoned when trace amounts of sulfur-bearing materials are contained in the feedstocks.
NOTE 2 This test method can be used to determine sulfur in process feeds and can also be used to control sulfur in effluents.
NOTE 3 For the purposes of this document, "% (m/m)" and "% (V/V)" are used to represent the mass fraction, w, and the volume fraction, φ, of a material respectively.
NOTE 4 Sulfate species in ethanol do not have the same conversion factor of organic sulfur in ethanol. Nevertheless, sulfates have a conversion factor close to that of organic sulfur.
NOTE 5 Nitrogen interference can occur, see 6.5 for further guidance.
