Organisations use standards in different ways. Some need access to only a few documents, while others rely on hundreds of standards across multiple departments and projects.
If you are considering how to access standards, you may be wondering:
→ How to access standards from EVS?
→ What is the difference between the EVS collection service and user licences from the e-shop?
→ What standards are available from EVS?
→ Who should use the EVS collection service?
→ Who should choose single or multi-user licences?
Standard access options in EVS
EVS offers access to standards with single and multi-user licences or through a collection service.
Single-user licence and multi-user licences licences are suitable when you need access to specific standards. Licences can be purchased as needed and used according to the licence terms. This option works well for organisations that use a limited number of standards or need occasional access to standards.
Collection service is essentially a customised package of licences that brings together all the standards your organisation regularly uses under a single service agreement. The collection service starts from two users and allows your organisation to download, store and manage standards on your internal network or server.
This option is designed for organisations that work with a large number (more than 100) of standards and want a simpler way to manage them.
Collection service vs single or multi-user licences
Single or multi-user licences may be the better option if your organisation:
- Uses a small number of standards
- Needs access to standards occasionally
- Does not need ongoing updates to a large collection
For smaller organisations or project-based use, single or multi-user licences often provide the most practical solution.
Collection may be the better option if your organisation:
- Uses more than 100 standards
- Needs regular updates to standards
- Prefers more predictable annual budgeting
With the collection service, your existing collection is updated twice every month, ensuring users have access to the latest valid versions of the standards included in the service.
If you are unsure which option best suits your needs, we are happy to recommend the most suitable approach for your organisation.
Which standards are available in the EVS e-shop or through a collection?
In our e-shop you can find all European standards (EN, EN ISO, EN IEC standards) and valid international standards (ISO, IEC). The collection service provides access to selected licences of European standards.
The following are not included in the collection service: International ISO and IEC standards that have not been adopted in Europe and redline versions of standards.
How to get started with collection service
Getting started is simple. Please send us a list of the standards your organisation requires and the number of users who need access.
If you have previously purchased standards from EVS, transitioning to collection service is straightforward. We are also happy to arrange a short demonstration of the service and answer any questions you may have.
