Although the standard’s status is withdrawn, it still has the presumption of conformity in the meaning of regulation 2016/425 and conformance with the regulation ’s requirements can be guaranteed by using the withdrawn version of the standard. The presumption of conformity is valid until a corresponding amendment is published in the Official Journal of the European Union.

This European Standard refers to particle filters for use as components in unassisted respiratory protective devices, except escape apparatus and filtering facepieces. Laboratory tests are included for the assesment of compliance with the requirements. Some filters complying with this standard may also be suitable for use with order types of respiratory protective devices and if so shall be tested and marked according to the appropiate European Standard.
