Although the standard’s status is withdrawn, it still has the presumption of conformity in the meaning of regulation 2006/42/EC and conformance with the regulation ’s requirements can be guaranteed by using the withdrawn version of the standard. The presumption of conformity is valid until a corresponding amendment is published in the Official Journal of the European Union.

This standard applies to all types of storage and retrieval (S/R) machines, restricted to the rails on which they travel within and outside the aisles, which embody lifting means and may embody lateral handling facilities, for the storage and retrieval of unit loads and/or long goods such as bar materials and/or for order picking or similar duties. Also included is the transfer equipment used to change between aisles. Control of machines may range from manual to fully automatic.
