This International Standard defines terms and codes for masses of road vehicles as defined in IS0 3333, with the exclusions indicated below, where these road vehicles are in a condition as first manufactured; they may be complete road vehicles or otherwise. The codes are intended to be used for the exchange of vehicle data and electronic processing. The following vehicle types are excluded: - specially designed vehicles for uses other than the transport of passengers and/or goods; - motorcycles and mopeds, which are covered by IS0 6726[‘]; - towed caravans, which are covered by IS0 7237[*]. This International Standard does not specify measuring  procedures, units to be used or tolerances.
