The Estonian standard is applied on liquid fuels produced from kukersite oil shale by pyrolysis. According to the standard Estonian shale oil is treated as two fractions according to their boiling point ranges (boiling point is determined by the method EVS-EN ISO 3405): • light fraction (boiling point between 30 °C and 210 °C); • middle-heavy fraction (boiling point above 150 °C). The Estonian standard defines ranges of main parameters of different shale oil fractions (density, viscosity, elemental analysis, ash content, etc.) and analytical methods for determining these parameters.
