This CEN Workshop Agreement provides mine action programmes, demining companies and field operators with: -  simple procedures to asses the effects of soils on the performance of metal detectors and dual sensors (see 5) and -  clues to recognise soils that may create difficulties to metal detectors (see 5.6) and dual sensors (see 5.7). It also provides people designing tests to evaluate metal detectors or dual sensors with: -  a list of soil properties to record that can affect the performance of these detectors (see 6.2), -  procedures to determine these properties (see Annex B), -  relative soil comparison rules to compare and choose soils for testing (see 6.4 and 6.5), and -  soil classifications based on the effects on metal detector performance (see 6.3); no such classification is currently available for dual sensors.
