This document applies to grasp-free, surface-based robotic manipulators.
It defines the relevant terminology (clause 3) and describes:
-  the characteristics (clause 4),
-  test conditions (clause 5),
-  performance criteria, and methodologies for specifying and evaluating the manipulation performance (clause 6),
-  uses cases (clause 7).
The informative annex A provides templates for presenting grasp-free, surface-based robotic manipulators characteristics, which can assist manufacturers in describing product features.
The informative annex B provides the results of studies on the psychosocial impacts of the application of robotic technologies in the process industry.
However, the document is not intended for verification or validation of safety requirements.
